159 Know all men by these presents that we Nicholas Brewer and Nicholas Baldwin of Anne Arundel County for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings current money to us in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have manumitted and set free and do by these presents forever hereafter manumit and set free a negro woman named Nancy Rogers and her daughter named Mary Rogers heretofore conveyed to us by Rezin D. Baldwin of Anne Arundel County. In Witness whereof we have hereto set our hands and seals this twentieth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven Nich.s Brewer (seal) Signed Sealed & delivered his in the presence of Nich.s + Baldwin (seal) Louis C Gassaway mark Richd C McKubin On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Anne Arundel County Sc. On the twentieth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven personally appeared Nich.s Brewer and Nicholas Baldwin before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be their act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of Assembly in such cases provided paid acknowledged before Ex.d d.d Joseph Sands 2 Recorded the 20th day of August 1811 |
