157 release from slavery liberate manumate and set free a negro man named Richard or Dick (who was the property of my wife at the time of my marriage) being at this time about the age of twenty three years and able to work and gain a livelyhood and maintenance. And him the said negro man named Richard or Dick I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever from the day of the date hereof. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of June in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and eleven Signed Sealed and delivered Jeremiah Hughes (seal) in presence of Gideon White James Murdock At the foot of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit: Received the day above mentioned one dollar in full consideration of the above Jeremiah Hughes Ann Arundell County to wit.
