150 claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before ch.d Joseph Sands 3¼ Recorded the 3.d day of april 1811 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Elizabeth Hood of anne arundel county in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one hundred pounds current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and sett free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman Rachel and her three yongest children named Rachel Dory and Anney, Rachel the mother being of the age of forty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance Rachel the daughter being of the age of three years Dory being of the age of two years and Anney being of the age of one year and they the said negro woman Rachel and negro girl Rachel and negro Girl Dory and negro Girl Anney, I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever, In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fifth day of January 1811 The word Girl in the fourteenth line being first interlined signed sealed & delivered in the Elizabeth Hood (seal) presence of Osborn Williams Elizabeth Williams, Hester Hood |
