149 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Washington G Tuck of Anne Arundel county in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro girl named Sophia at the age of twenty five years and now being of the age of one year here the said negro girl named Sophia I do declare to be after she arrives to the age of twenty five years free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 2.nd day of April in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Joseph Sands Samuel Wood Washn G. Tuck (seal) on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus endorsed to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five dollars current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Joseph Sands Washn G. Tuck Anne Arundel county to wit On this 2.d day of April 1811 personally appears Washington G. Tuck party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the said county and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro girl within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any (claiming) |
