15 on the back of the aforegoing Instrument was thus endorsed to wit on the eighth day of September one thousand eight hundred and seven personally appeared Elizabeth Pitts before the Subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for anne arundel county and acknowledges the within instrument of writing to be her act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided: acknowledged before Henry Woodward Recorded 11 September 1087 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Susanna Foster of anne arundel county in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of ten shillings current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free after my death my negro man named Philip Crowner being between the age of twenty five and thirty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Philip Crowner. I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to my executors or administrators forever after my decease. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty seventh day of august in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and seven her Signed Sealed & delivered Susanna + Foster (Seal) in presence of mark Thomas Norris of Tho.s on the back of the Thomas Sellman aforegoing Deed was thus endorsed to wit Anne Arundel county sc.t on this twenty seventh |
