148 slavery liberate manumitt and set free the within named negro Girl Kitty after the year of our lord 1821 from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors administrators or assigns forever and also her increase or ishue that she may have born in the time of her servitude to wit, males at the age of twenty five years and females at the age of twenty one years, In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fourteenth day of march 1811 Witness John Merriken (seal) Richard Merriken C. Warfield On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus endorsed to wit Anne Arundel county to wit; on this 14 day of march personally appears John Merriken party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of maryland for the said county and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro girl within named and her increase to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted at the time therein specifyed and according to the acts of of assembly in such cases made and provided Exd Acknowledged before Chd Richard Merriken 3 Recorded the 4.th day of April 1811 |
