domini eighteen hundred and eleven

on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus endorsed to wit
Jan.y 24.th 1811 Rec.d the sum of twenty dollars from
Patty Lee being the consideration of the within
instrument of writing as witness my hand

Anne Arundel county to wit   I hereby certify that on
this 24.th day of January anno domini 1811 the
within named Horatio Samuel Gibson personally appeared
before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the
peace in and for the county aforesaid and
acknowledged the within instrument of writing
to be his proper act and deed for the uses
and purposes therein mentioned and according
to the act of assembly in such case made

To all whom it may concern be it known that I John Merriken
of anne arundel county in the state of maryland for divers
good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have
released from slavery liberated manumitted and set
free and by these presents do hereby release from
slavery liberate manumitt and set free my negro Girl
named Kitty being of the age of nine years the tenth
day of november 1811.  I do hereby release from
