146 Anne Arundel county to wit, I hereby certify that on this 25.th day of Jany anno domini 1811 the within named Horatio S. Gibson personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace in and for the county aforesaid and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his proper act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned and according to the act of assembly in such case made and provided chd Taken before 3¼ Recorded the 2.nd day of April 1811 Richard Merriken State of Maryland Anne Arundel county Sc.t Know all men by these presents that I Horatio Samuel Gibson of the county aforesaid in consideration of the sum of twenty dollars current money of the United States to me in hand paid by Patty Lee a free black woman at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Patty Lee her infant child named Henry now six months old To have and To hold the said Henry for and during the term of twelve years from the date hereof and after the said term of twelve years is compleat and ended. I do hereby declare the said negro boy Henry the son of Patty Lee to be manumitted liberate and free from all kind of servitude to my self my heirs or assigns and do hereby warrant and defend the freedom of said Henry against all and every person whomsoever, In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my name and affixed my |
