12 livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Thomas Ayers I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my administrators or executors forever In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 10.th of august in the year 1807 Signed sealed & delivered Philip J. Thomas (H) in the presence of Jn.o T. Rich Ton on the back of the aforegoing Os. S. Harwood was thus endorsed to wit Received on the 10.th day of august 1807 the sum of two hundred dollars current money it being the full consideration within mentioned Philip J. Thomas (seal) Testers Os. S. Harwood Ann arundel county to wit on this 10.th day of august 1807 personally appeared Philip J. Thomas party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the State of Maryland for the said county and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to all claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided acknowledged before Recorded 15 aug.t 1807 Os.
