11 have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Sarah being of the age of forty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman named Sarah I do declare to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 29.th day of august in the year of our Lord 1807 Signed Sealed & delivered Cha.s Pettebone (seal) in presents of Richard Merriken on the back of the Mary Merriken aforegoing Instrument was thus endorsed to wit Anne arundel county Sct on this 29.th day of august 1809 appeared Charles Pettebone before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for aforesaid county and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed for the purpose therein express agreeable to an act of assembly in such case made and provided Acknowledged before Recorded 29 aug.t 1807 Richard Merriken Maryland ann arundel county SS.t Know all men by these presents that I Philip J. Thomas of the State and county aforesaid for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in the further consideration of two hundred dollars to me in hand paid have released from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Thomas Ayers aged forty three years and able to work and gain a sufficient |
