113 the date withing mentioned the sum of one hundred dollars it being the full consideration money within mentioned Gideon White John Weems of Rd (seal) Anne arundel county to wit on the 14.th day of July one thousand eight hundred and ten personally appears John Weems of Richard party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of maryland for the said county and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman and child within named to be manumitted and discharged as within mentioned from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Gideon White Recorded 14 July 1810 To all whom it may concern Be it known by these presents that I John Munroe of the city of Annapolis for divers good considerations have manumitted and set free and by these presents do manumit and set free from me my heirs executors and administrators the following negro Melinda Short after the expiration of this instrument of writing: In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixteenth day of July anno domini |
