102 Anne arundel county to wit on the 29.th day of march 1810 appeared John Chew before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the county aforesaid and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d.d.d Gideon white Recorded 30.th March 1810 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Joshua Powell of ann arundel county in the state of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of three hundred dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Nave being of the age of forty three years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Nace I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged |
