98 certain Joseph Sprigg Belt, and her the said negro Girl named Lucy Scott I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 27.th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eighteen hundred and one Signed Sealed and delivered In the presence of Leonard Scott (seal) Allen Quynn John R. Bryce On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed Viz.t Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five shillings current money it being the full consideration within mentioned witness Allen Quynn Leonard Scott John R Bryce Anne Arundel County sc.t Be it remembered that on this 27.th day of November one thousand eight hundred and one personally appears Leonard Scott party to the within Instrument of writing before the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro Girl within named to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all services to him, or to any claiming under him, and to be free and manumitted, according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided acknowledged before Recorded 27th November 1801 Allen Quynn |
