this day manumitted exonerated and set free and by these presents Do hereby exonerate, manumit and set free my negroe slave named Jim defending him against all manner of persons whatever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written Signed sealed and delivered Richard Weems (seal) In presence of Ja.s Disney John Weems of Rich.d On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed Viz.t Ann Arundel County to wit on the day and date above appeared before me a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid the above mentioned Richard Weems and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the negroe therein mentioned to be liberated manumited and set free agreeably to the True intent and meaning thereof acknowledged before Ja.s Disney Recorded 29th September 1801 Ex.d
