and set free a certain negroe woman named Doll or Dorothy in consideration of the long services of the said Doll and also in consideration of the family of the said M.rs Mary Dulany being in possession of a numerous progeny of the said Doll in consideration therefore of the premises I Walter Dulany of the City of Annapolis do by these presents manumit set free and discharge from my service and from the service of all other persons the aforesaid negroe slave named Doll from the fifth day of August in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and two, on which day the said Doll is hereby discharged from slavery In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal on the fourteenth day of August in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and one Signed sealed and delivered Walter Dulany (+) In the presence of Samuel Ridout Jn.o Gibson On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed Vizt Ann Arundel County to wit Be it remembered that on the 15.th day of August in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and one personally appeared before the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for Ann Arundel County the within mentioned Walter Dulany and acknowledged the within instrument of writing as his act and deed according to the purposes therein mentioned and agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided acknowledged before Jn.o Gibson Recorded 28th September 1801 |
