82 On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed Viz.t Ann Arundel County sct On the 22 day of May 1801 Then Came before us the Subscribers two of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid Benjamin Basford party to the above instrument of writing and acknowledged the same to be his Act & Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman Ruth to be henceforth discharged from all services to him or to any persons claiming under him and the negro boy Jack to be free on 1st day of March 1825 according to the Act of Assembly in such Cases made and provided Recorded 22 May 1801 James Mackubin
for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving do hereby free manumit and enfranchise the negro following to wit Jenny aged about five months to be free from the date hereof and her increase to the last generation to be free at their Birth hereby Acknowledging the said negro Discharged from all Claim of Service & right of property whatever from me my heirs Executors or Administrators As Witness my hand & seal this fourth day of July in the year of our blessed Lord one thousand eight hundred and one Signed Sealed & Delivered in the presence of James Usher (Seal) Richard Harrison, Benjamin Harrison (On) |
