for divers good Causes & Considerations me thereunto moving as also in the further Consideration of the Sum of five shillings to me in hand paid do hereby Declare free manumit and enfranchise the negroes following to wit my negro woman named Ruth what said woman Ruth was willed to me by Frederick Basford of the said County to be free and Discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs Executors and Administrators forever and one negro boy named Jack which I claim by virtue of said Frederick Basfords will to be free on the first day of March eighteen hundred and twenty five hereby acknowledging the said negroes Discharged from all Claim of Service and right of property whatever from me my heirs Executors or Administrators in the manner and form above mentioned Viz.t Ruth to enjoy her freedom henceforth and forever hereafter Jack to enjoy his freedom on the first day of March eighteen hundred & twenty five In Testimony I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty second day May 1801 his Signed Sealed & Delivered in presence of Benjamin x Basford (Seal) James Mackubin mark W.m Whittington of Jno (On) |
