to claim under us  In witness whereof we have
hereunto set our hand and seals this fourth day of
March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred

in the presence of               Benj.a Harrison   (Seal)
       Jacob Franklin Jun      Philemon Spencer   (Seal)
       Tho.s Norris of Thos

On the back of the foregoing was thus endorsed Vizt
Ann Arundel County to wit  On the fourth day of
March 1800 Benjamin Harrison & Philemon
Spencer personally appeared before the subscriber
one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid
and Acknowledged the within instrument of writing
to be their Act and Deed according to Law
Recorded 15 March 1800            Ja.s Disney

I Samuel Harrison Junr of Ann

Arundel County & State of Maryland
Do hereby set free from bondage my negro man
Jem commonly called Sawyer Jem about forty eight
years of age and do for myself my heirs Executors
and Administrators release unto the said negro
Man Jem all my right and claim whatsoever of
property or right of service of and in the said negro
Man and also all the right of property or service
which in him I may acquire hereby Declaring the
said negro Jem from this day without any interruption
from me or any body else claiming under me  In
witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
