49 of the world to the day of the date hereof In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty ninth day of July Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine Signed Sealed & Delivered her in the presence of Elizabeth x Simmons (Seal) James Tongue mark Elizabeth Tongue On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed Viz.t Ann Arundel County sct THis the twenty ninth day of July 1799 Came Elizabeth Simmons before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid and Acknowledged the above manumission to be her Act and Deed and the negro Man and the negro woman therein mentioned to be manumitted agreeable to the true Interest and meaning thereof Tho.s Tongue Recorded 30 July 1799
County and State of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of Ten pounds Current money of Maryland to me in hand paid have released from Slavery Liberated and set free my negro Man named William Berbeck and him do Declare to be henceforth free and Discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs Executors & Administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal this twenty sixth day of July in the year of our Lord |
