    State of maryland and Anne Arundel County sct
       I Nicholas Harwood Clerk of Anne Arundel County Court
Hereby Certify that it appears by deed of manumission executed by
John Cowman of the County aforesaid bearing date on the thirteenth
day of the Eleventh month in the year of our lord one thousand
seven hundred and seventy six and recorded amongst the records
of Anne Arundel County Court aforesaid that freedom was
thereby granted unto a negro man by the name of Nace
stated to be then of the age of six years which said freedom
was to take place when the said Negro man named
Nace should arrive at the age of twenty one years
             I further Certify that a negro man named nace
now present and who has made application to me for a
Certificate of his freedom has proved by Testimony which
is satisfactory to me that he is the identical person
mentioned in the said deed of manumission  The said
negro man named Nace is about five feet five
inches high and appears to be about thirty six
years of age.  He is of a very dark Complexion
was raised in the County of Anne Arundel he does
not appear to have any notable marks
                Issd the 4th day of June 1807

Executed by Richard Weems of the County aforesaid bearing
date on the fourteenth day of September in the year of our lord
one thousand eight hundred and one and recorded amongst the
records of Anne Arundel County Court aforesaid that freedom
