State of Maryland; anne arundel county Sc.t
       I Nicholas Harwood clerk of anne arundel county court
hereby certify that a negro woman named Margaret Shepherd
who is now present and who has made application to me
for a certificate of her freedom has proved by testimony
which is satisfactory to me that she is freeborn the
said negro woman named Margaret Shepherd is
about four feet ten inches high appears to be about
forty years of age her complexion is black has a scar
on the left side of her nose occasioned by a burn
and was raised at the fork of patuxent in the
county aforesaid
             Issued the 9.th of June 1807


State of maryland ann arundel county to wit
    I Nicholas Harwood clerk of ann arundel county court
hereby certify that it appears by a deed of manumission executed
by William Weems of the county aforesaid bearing date on the
15 day of Decem.r 1789 and recorded amongst the land records
of anne arundel county court af.d that freedom was thereby
granted unto a negro man by the name of Cæsar stated
to be then of the age of thirteen years which said freedom
was to take place on the first of Jany 1806
    I further certify that a negro man named Cæsar now
present and who has made application to me for a
certificate of his freedom has proved by testimony which is
satisfactory to me that he is the identical person
who was manumitted by the above mentioned deed of
manumission the said negro man named Cæsar is about
five feet seven inches high and appears to be about thirty
years of age he is of a dark complexion and was raised in
the lower end of the county aforesaid
       Issued 11.th June 1807
