35 was thereby granted unto a Negro man named James which said freedom was to take place from the date of the said deed of Manumission I further Certify that a Negro Man named James now present and who has made application to me for a Certificate of his freedom has proved by Testimony which is Satisfactory to me that he is the identical person mentioned in the said deed of manumission. The said Negro Man named James is about five feet ten inches high and appears to be about forty years of age. He is of a very bright Complexion and was raised on West River in the County of Anne Arundel He does not appear to have any notable marks Issd the 8th of June 1807 State of Maryland anne arundel county sc.t I Nicholas Harwood clerk of ann arundel county court hereby certify that it appears by a deed of manumission executed by Joseph Jenifer of the county af.d bearing date on the thirty first day of July in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred & four and recorded in one of the manumission books of anne arundel county af.d that freedom was thereby granted unto a negro woman by the name of Priss which said freedom was to take place from the date of the said manumission I further certify that a negro woman named Priss now present and who has made application to me for a certificate of her freedom has proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that she is the identical person who was manumitted by the above mentioned deed of manumission the said negro woman named Priss is about five feet seven inches high and appears to be about forty five years of age she is rather a bright mulatto & was raised on south river in the county aforesaid Issued the 9.th June 1807 |
