38 State of Maryland Anne Arundel County To wit I Hereby Certify to all whom it doth or may Concern that a Certain Thomas Norris of Tho.s Sarah Norris and Mary Norris by a deed or Instrument of writing bearing date on the fifteenth day of the Eleventh Month in the year of our lord seventeen hundred and Ninety nine duly Executed Acknowledged and recorded among the records of Anne Arundel County Court did Manumit and set free from Bondage their negro man named John I Do further Certify that it hath been proved to my Satisfaction that the bearer hereof Negro John aged fifty years height five feet eight inches his Complexion black has a scar on his left hand Sele Tucker of the County aforesaid made oath before Gideon White a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid that the said Negro Man named John is the identical person so as aforesaid manumitted and set free by the above named Thomas Norris of Tho.s, Sarah Norris and Mary Norris and that the said Negro John was raised in Anne Arundel County Maryland Issued the 12th day of June 1807 note John's pass having been burnt, a second one given him 3.d Nov.r 1809 State of Maryland ann arundel county to wit I Hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it hath been proved to my satisfaction that the bearer hereof negro Mary Savoy aged twenty years height five feet complexion black is a free woman and that the said negro Mary Savoy was raised in ann arundel county Maryland Issued the 15.th day of June 1807 |
