303. Sum of one shilling current money being the full consideration within mentioned Witness William Brewer (seal) Gideon White Anne Arundel County Sc.t Be it remembered that on this twenty first day of April 1807 personally appears William Brewer party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided. Acknowledged Before Gideon White Recorded 22.nd April 1807 Know all men by these presents that I Betty Green (black woman) of the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named John Green who is also my husband) being able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him my said husband I do declare to be henceforth free) manumitted and discharged; In testimony whereof I have set |
