302 State of Maryland Anne Arundel County. On the 4.th day of April 1807. Bani Warfield appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the negro therein named to be free from this date from him his heirs and assigns forever according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Cha.s G. Dorsey Recorded 21.st April 1807 Ex.d To all whom it may concern Be it known that I William Brewer of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one shillings current money to me in hand paid have released from Slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from Slavery Liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Moses Davis being of the age of forty four years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Moses Davis. I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty first day of April 1807. Signed Sealed & Delivered in the presence of us William Brewer (seal) Gideon White John M. Sewell. on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum |
