299. Exd To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Susanna Lane of anne arundel county in the State of maryland for Divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from Slavery Liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from Slavery Liberate manumit and set free after my death the following negroes Dick Burley Daphne Lewis Lucy William and Mary and I the said Susanna Lane do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service after my Death as aforesaid. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 21.st day of November 1806 SIgned sealed & Delivered Susanna Lane (seal) in the presence of Jn.o Brice on the back of the aforegoing was Joseph Wyatt thus endorsed to wit Anne Arundel County to wit. Be it remembered that on this 21.st day of November eighteen hundred and six personally appears Susanna Lane party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negroes within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Jn.o Brice Recorded 21 November 1806 Ex.d To all whom it may concern, Be it known that I John Cord of anne arundel county in the State of Maryland being impressed with a belief that Liberty and freedom is the equal right of all persons they conforming to the Laws of the Land in which they dwell and |
