300. and for divers of other good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do by these presents on and after the Eighteenth day of October in the year eighteen hundred and eighteen release from slavery my negro Girl named Jenny now fifteen years of age hereby declaring the said negro Girl on and after the before mentioned period to be released from Slavery liberated manumitted and set free from me my heirs executors administrators and assigns and from all manner of persons claiming by from or under me my heirs or assigns. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of October in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and six Witness Larkin Shipley John Cord (seal) G. Watkins on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Anne Arundel County Sc.t on the 23.d day of December 1806 appears John Cord party to the above instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the county aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his Act and Deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such cases made and provided. Acknowledged before G. Watkins Recorded Feby 10.th 1807 Ex.d d.d To all whom it may concern, Know ye that I Nicholas Merriweather of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland believing that all man kind are by nature Equally free and at the same time abhoring that practice which I believe violates this law of nature and of God do for and in consideration as above bind myself my heirs executors and administrators to make and set free and by these presents do manumitt Emancipate enfranchise Liberate and forever release the two Boys |
