247 Claiming under her and to be free & manumitted according to the Act of Assembly in such Cases made and provided Acknowledged before Gideon White Recorded 29th October 1805 Exam.d To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Richard Cromwell of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good Causes & Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of the sum of five shillings Current money to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have released from Slavery liberated manumitted and Set free and by these presents do release from Slavery liberate manumit and set free after the term of two years from this date my negro man named Damon being of the age of thirty three years and able to work and gain a Sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Damon I do declare after the aforesaid period to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of Service to me my Executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this fifth day of november eighteen hundred and five Signed Sealed & delivered In the presence of us Richard Cromwell (seal) Joshua C Higgins Gideon White |
