24 Ann Arundel County Court will more fully and at large appear Now Know ye that I the said Randolph Brandt Latimer for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving and also for and in Consideration of the sum of five shillings Current money to me in hand paid I do hereby set free manumit and enfranchise the said negro Ben from the date hereof hereby acknowledging the said negro Ben to be Discharged from all Claim of service & right of property whatever from me my heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 8 day of May seventeen hundred & ninety eight Signed Sealed & Delivered Randolph B. Latimer (Seal) in the presence of James Mackubin On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed Viz.t Ann Arundel County sct on the 8 day of May seventeen hundred and ninety eight Then Came Randolph Brandt Latimer before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for the County aforesaid and Acknowledged the within Deed of manumission to be his Act and Deed and the negro Man therein mentioned to be Discharged all claim of service from him & heirs forever according to the true intent & meaning thereof & the act of assembly in such cases made & provided James Mackubin Recorded 10 May 1798 |
