233 It remembered that on this tenth of August in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & five personally appears Sarah Wheeler party to the within Instrument of writing before me the Subscriber a justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County & acknowledged the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro Boy within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or to any Claiming under her & to be free & manumitted according to the Act of Assembly in such Cases made and provided Acknowledged before Recorded 10.th of August 1805 Lewis Duvall Examd d.d State of Maryland Sc.t To all whom these presents shall Come Greeting I Joshua Mayo of Ann Arundel County and State aforesaid for divers good Causes & Considerations me thereunto moving do declare Free manumit and Enfranchise Negro Juba Bought of Mrs Sarah H Gant aged about thirty four years to be free from the eighth day of August one thousand eight hundred & fifteen Hereby acknowledging the said mayo discharged from all manner of Claim of Service & right of property that Ever |
