230 Exam.d d.d To all whom it may Concern be it known that Joseph Court of Anne Arundel County in the state of maryland divers good Causes & Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of twenty dollars to me in hand paid have released from Slavery liberated manumitted & set free and by these presents do hereby release manumit & set free my negro Child named Mary Ann daughter of my negro woman Fanny of the age of twenty months and her the said Mary Ann I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted & discharged from all manner of Servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators forever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this nineteenth day of January eighteen hundred & five Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of us Benjamin Carr Joseph Court (seal) John H D Lane On the back of the aforegoing was thus Endorsed Viz.t Be it remembered that on the 19.th day of February Eighteen hundred & five personally appears Joseph Court party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his Act & deed for the purposes within mentioned according to the true intent & meaning thereof And the Act of Assembly in such Case and provided Charles D Hodges Recorded the 26th July 1805 |
