Hammond of Ann Arundel County and Negro Jerry witnesseth that the said Greenbury Hammond instigated by Principals of humanity Do by these presents manumit set free and at full Liberty the aforesaid Negro Jerry from and after my Decease & not before and it is hereby intended & understood that the said Negro Jerry shall from & after my Death be free and entitled to all the priviledges of persons manumitted and set free according to the Acts of Assembly in such Cases made and provided In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above written Signed Sealed & Delivered in presence of Greenbury Hammond (seal) Sam.l Godman A. A County sct On the twenty eight day of January 1797 Came Greenbury Hammond party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the County afsd & Acknowledged the same to be his Act and Deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Sam.l Godman Recorded 30.th January 1797
