195 Ex.d To all whom it may concern be it known that I Joseph Jenifer of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of five shillings current money to me in hand paid Have released from Slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from Slavery Liberate manumit and set free my Negro Woman named Priss and the said Negro Woman named Priss I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and four Signed Sealed and Delivered In the presence of us Joseph Jenifer (seal) James Mackubin On the back of the aforegoing was Jn.o Gassaway thus endorsed to wit Received on the day of the Date within mentioned the sum of five shillings current money within mentioned Witness James Mackubin Joseph Jenifer Anne Arundel County Sc.t Be it remembered that on this thirty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four personally appears Joseph Jenifer party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his Act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the Negro Woman within named to be henceforth manumitted an discharged from all services (to) |
