189 the said negro man named Richard Prout I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirty first day of May one thousand eight hundred and Four his Signed Sealed and delivered W.m WP Prout (seal) In the presence of us mark Lewis Duvall Sam.l Sands On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed Viz.t Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of five shillings current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned his W.m WP Prout mark A. A. County Viz.t Be it remembered that on this 31.st day of may 1804 personally appears Wm Prout party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be hence forth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided acknowledged before Lewis Duvall Recorded the 31.st may 1804 |
