187 Anne Arundel County fs.t On the twenty fourth day of May one thousand eight hundred and Four personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid Seth Sweetzer party to the within instrument of writing and did acknowledge the same to be his act and deed and the negro man Dick to be free at the time within mentioned Acknowledged before Lewis Duvall Recorded the 24.th day of May 1804 Ex.d To all whom it may concern be it known that I John Ouchterlong Jones of Anne Arundel County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five shillings current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Nace on the first day of January eighteen hundred and nine being at this time of the age of twenty years and him the said negro man named Nace I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged at the expiration of said Term from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirtieth day of May in the year of our lord |
