182 Ann Arundel County to wit Be it remembered that on this 22.d day of May personally appeared Grace Hemmens party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledged the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned acknowledged before Lewis Duvall Recorded the 22 day of may 1804 Maryland fst To all whom these presents shall come Greeting I William Weems of Anna Arundel County in the State aforesaid for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do hereby free manumit and enfranchise the following negro to wit Henry aged between fifteen and sixteen years of age to be free in twelve years from the first of January last Hereby acknowledging the said negro discharged from all claim of service and right of property whatever from me my heirs executors or administrators As witness my hand and seal this seventh day of May in the year of our blessed lord one thousand eight hundred & four Signed Sealed acknowledg'd In the presence of W.m Weems (seal) Lewis Duvall J.
