181 act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Os. S. Harwood Recorded the 19.th day of May 1804 Ex.d To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Grace Hemmens of the City of annapolis in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have thought proper after the fourth day of July in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and Thirteen to release from slavery liberate manumit and set free and by these presents do hereby from and after the day aforesaid release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro Girl named Harriott being of the age of thirteen years and her the said negro Girl named Harriott I do declare to be free from and after the said fourth day of July one thousand eight hundred and Thirteen. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 21.st day of May in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and Four Signed Sealed and delivered her In presence of us Grace } Hemmens (seal) John Davidson mark Maria Davidson On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed Viz.t |
