183 of the peace for the county aforesaid and acknowledged teh above instrument of writing to be his act and deed for the true purpose and meaning thereof acknowledged before Lewis Duvall Recorded the 7.th day of May 1804 Ex.d To all whom it may concern be it known that I William Brown of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of five shillings current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Cassandra commonly called Milley being of the age of thirty years or thereabouts and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenances and her the said negro woman named Cassandra and commonly called Milley I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this |
