169 current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro Woman named Polly Prout being of the age of thirty six years and her the said negro woman named Polly Prout I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this nineteenth day of January in the year of our lord one Thousand eight hundred and Four Signed Sealed and delivered his In the presence of William WP Prout (seal) Lewis Duvall mark John H. Clements On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed Viz.t Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five shillings current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness his Lewis Duvall William WP Prout mark Ann Arundel County Viz.t Be it remembered that on this nineteenth day of January one thousand eight hundred and four personally appears William Prout before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for said County and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed for the purposes therein |
