On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed Viz.t
Ann Arundel County Viz.t   On this sixth day of June
one Thousand eight hundred and Three the within named
Nathaniel Chew eight hundred and Three the within named
Nathaniel Chew personally appeared before the
subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid
and acknowledged the within instrument of writing
to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned
according to the act of assembly in such case made
and provided         acknowledged before

I Richard Chaney of Ann Arundel County in the State
of Maryland do hereby set free from bondage my
negro man named Samuel aged Twenty and six
years and do for myself my heirs executors and
administrators release unto the above named negro
Samuel all my right and all claims whatsoever
as to his person or to any estate he may acquire
hereby declaring the said negro absolutely free
without any interruption from me or any person
claiming under me.   In witness whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty
Eight day of the first month one Thousand Eight
hundred and Three
