121 That on this ninth day of June Eighteen hundred and Two personally appears John Joice party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman and child within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided acknowledged before Lewis Duvall Recorded 9th June 1802 Know all men by these presence that I John Pitts of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland for sundry good causes and considerations me there unto moving do hereby manumit and set free at the age of Twenty five years my negro boys Charles and Benjamin the first aged Eighteen years the 4.th day of July 1809 The second aged four years the 9th day of May last part to commence free upon the 9th day of May 1823 And I do discharge them from all servitude and forever quit all right and all claim to them; at the above mentioned age and upon the above mentioned periods of time For me my heirs executors or administrators forever In witness I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 17th day of June 1802 Witness James Mackubin John Pitts (seal) Robert Welch Jun.r |
