118 Jacob as a reward for his uniform good Conduct since he has been my property Now therefore Know all men by these presents that I do hereby manumit liberate and set free the said negro man named Jacob and do hereby release and discharge him from all kind of servitude or bondage to me and all and every person or persons who shall or may or who might claim him by from or under me In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Two Signed Sealed and delivered In the presence of Richard Merriken Horatio Ridout (seal) Mary Merriken On the back of the aforegoing wa thus endorsed Anne Arundel County to wit on this third day of June Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and Two the within named Horatio Ridout personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the act of assembly in such case made and provided Recorded 3rd June 1802 Richard Merriken |
