111 To all whom it may Concern Be it known that I John H. Stone of the City of Annapolis for divers good Considerations and Causes me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of five shillings Current money to me in hand paid have released from Slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from Slavery Liberate manumit and set free my mulatto Lad named Samuel Davies and him I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and Discharged from all manner of Servitude or Service to me my Executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and Seal this 11 day of May 1802 Signed Sealed & Delivered in the presence of J H Stone (Seal) Lewis Duvall Henry Wayman On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Anne Arundel County sct. Be it remembered that on this 11.th day of May 1802 personally appears John H Stone party to the within Instrument of writing before the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid and Acknowledges the same to be his Act & Deed for the purposes within mentioned & the mulatto Lad within named to be henceforth manumitted & Discharged from all Services to him or any Claiming under him & to be free & manumitted according to the Act of Assembly in such Cases made & provided Acknowledged before Lewis Duvall Recorded 11.th May 1802 |
