I Charles Hammond of the County Anne Arundel in
the State of Maryland do hereby set free from bondage
my mulatto woman named Betsey Jones aged
about Thirty one years and do for myself my
executors and administrators release unto the
said Betsey Jones all my right and all claim
whatsoever as to her person or to any estate
she may acquire hereby declaring the said
Betsey Jones absolutely free without any
interruption from me or any person claiming
under me   In witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and affixed my seal this
25th day of January in the year of our Lord
one thousand Eight hundred and Two
Signed Sealed and delivered
       In the presence of us

On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed Vizt
State of Maryland ss.  On this twenty sixth day
of January in the year of our Lord one thousand
Eight hundred and two personally appeared
before me the subscriber one of the Justices
of the peace for Ann Arundel County
Charles Hammond party to the above instrument
of writing who acknowledged the said instrument
to be his act and deed and the signature
and seal thereto annexed to be respectively
