Will became free in September last eighteen hundred & thirty one has a scar
on the Right arm between the hand and Elbow and a Scar on the Joint of
the forefinger of the left hand is the Identical person who was manumitted
or freed as aforesaid and That the said negro Jerry was raised
in Anne Arundel County
                            In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my
        (Seal)           name and affixed the seal of my Office this Ninth
                            day of November in the year of Our Lord one thousand
                            eight hundred and thirty one

       The State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to Wit
                I hereby Certify to all whom it doth or may concern that on an
Examination of the Records and Papers in the office of the Register of Wills for
Anne Arundel County it appears that the last Will and Testament of Bryan
Williams late of the County aforesaid, deceased, bearing date the ninth day of
June in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twelve was proved
and recorded in the said Office on the Seventeenth day of May in the year of our
Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty fourteen in Liber I G N.o 3 folio 57
and that the said Bryan Williams by his said Will among other things did
devise and direct that his negro woman named Hagar should receive her
freedom at the age of twenty five years
                    And I do further Certify That it hath been proved by such testimony
as is Satisfactory to me that the Bearer hereof negro Hagar whose height is
about five feet four inches; whose age is about twenty Eight years; whose complexion
is dark; and who as appears by the said Will and testimony became free
some time in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty Eight is the identical person
who was manumitted or freed as aforesaid and that the said negro Hagar was
raised in Anne Arundel County and has no visible marks
                            In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Subscribed my name
        (Seal)           and affixed the seal of my Office this 16.th day of November in
                            the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty one
