       At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

       State of Maryland Anne Arundel County sct

Be it remembered that on this thirteenth day of March in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty six before me the Subscriber
one of the Justices of the peace of the State of Maryland in and
for the County of Anne Arundel personally appears Alexander Randall
and Nicholas Owens parties in the aforegoing deed or instrument of
writing and acknowledge the same as their act and deed for the
purposes therein mentioned
                         Acknowledged before and certified by
                                                                               R. S. Mercer J. P.

Be it remembered that on this nineteenth day of March in the
year 1846 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the said
state in and for Anne Arundel County personally appears Alexander
Randall the aforegoing grantor and acknowledges the aforegoing
Deed to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned

Bill of Sale from William H Wood
to Hammond Stewart dated the tenth
day of March 1846
 Know all men by these
presents that I William
H Wood of Anne Arundel
County and State of Maryland
for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and eighty seven
dollars and fifty cents in hand paid by Dr Hammond Stewart
of Calvert County and state aforesaid I have this day bargained and
sold and delivered to the said Hammond Stewart my negro boy
Sam aged about twelve years a Slave for life  And I hereby bind
myself my heirs administrators and assigns to warrand and
defend the negro boy a slave for life to him the said Hammond
Stewart his heirs and assigns against me my heirs and assigns
and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever
claiming the same.  In Witness whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and seal this the tenth day of March eighteen hundred
and forty six
