in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty six between
John T. Taylor of the City of Annapolis in Anne Arundel County and State
of Maryland of the one part and Louisa Alexander of the City County and
State aforesaid of the other part.  Whereas the said John T. Taylor owes and
stands justly indebted to the said Louisa Alexander in the sum of seventy
dollars and forty cents current money of the United States and to secure the
payment thereof he the said John T. Taylor is willing to execute these
presents.  Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said John T. Taylor
for and in consideration of the premises and of the sum of five dollars
current money of the United States to him in hand paid by the said Louisa
Alexander before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt
whereof he the said John T. Taylor doth hereby acknowledge hath
granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain
and sell unto the said Louisa Alexander her Executors administrators
and assigns all and singular the furniture and household stuff
hereinafter particularly mentioned and expressed and now in his
possession that is to say two feather beds and two bedsteads one parlour
carpet one mahogana Dining Table one clock one large Mantle Glass
one Bureau one dozen red chairs half dozen black chairs one safe two pine
tables one pair blue mug ornaments one pair white china vases one pair
brass andirons one Large Red waiter one pair of small green waiters
one red pine washstand one pine Toilet Table one old piece Domestic
carpet one rocking chair 1 stair carpet and a Lot of kitchen utensils
To Have and To Hold all and singular the said furniture and household
stuff unto the said Louisa Alexander her Executors administrators
and assigns forever.  Provided always that it is declared to be the true
intent and meaning of these presents that if the said John T.
Taylor do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the
said Louisa Alexander her Executors administrators or assigns the
full sum of ninety dollars and forty cents current money of the
United States with interest for the same on or before the first day
of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty
seven then and in such case these presents and every matter and
thing herein contained shall cease determine and be utterly void to
to all intents and purposes any thing herein contained to the contrary
thereof in anywise notwithstanding otherwise to be and remain in
full force and virtue in law  In witness whereof I the said John T. Taylor
hath hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year
aforesaid                                                   Jno G. Taylor   (seal)
