and delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have
granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and
sell unto the said Robert B Chew his Executors administrators and assigns
viz one negro Girl named Sophia three horses one cow Seven beds & furniture
three stoves one sideboard one Bureau one safe three tables & 18 chairs all of
which property is now in my possession.  To Have and To Hold the same
described property above named bargained and sold to the said Robert B Chew
his Executors administrators and assigns forever to his and their only proper
use and benefit and I the said John H Urquehart for myself my Executors
and administrators shall and will warrant and forever defend by these
presents to the said Robert B Chew his Executors administrators
and assigns the said described property against me my Executors and
administrators and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever
claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.  In Testimony whereof
I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the twentieth day of
February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two

in the presence of Lewis Sutton Sr                     John H Urquehart   (seal)

    On the back of the foregoing was thus written to wit

    State of Maryland A. A. County to wit

       On this 13.th day of February 1846 before me the Subscriber one of
the Justices of the peace in and for the County and state aforesaid appears
John H Urquehart and acknowledges the within Instrument of writing
to be his act and deed and the property therein named to be the right and
estate of the within named Robert B Chew upon the proviso or condition
therein contained according to the true intent and meaning of the same
and the Acts of Assembly as in such a case as made and and provided

Know all men by these
presents that I Zachariah
Merriken of Anne Arundel
county in the State of
Maryland for and in
consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars current money to
me in hand paid by Thos J. Mezick of the County and State
aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents
the receipt whereof I the said Zachariah Merriken do hereby
acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents
I the said Zachariah Merriken administrator of Joseph M Tate of Anne
