and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John
Philips h executors administrators and assigns my negro man named Nace
a slave for a term of years who was aged thirty one years on the tenth
day of July eighteen hundred and forty four and is to serve until he
arrive at the age of forty four years that is to say until the tenth
day of July eighteen hundred and fifty seven 1857.  To Have and To Hold
the said described Negro to the said John Philips his Executors
administrators and assigns for said term of years  And I the said
Alexander Nesbit for myself heirs Executors and administrators
the said Negro Negro man Nace unto the said John Philips his
Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Alexander
Nesbit his Executors and administrators and against all and every
other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and
forever defend by these presents.  In Witness whereof we have hereunto
set our hands and seals this twentieth day of October eighteen hundred
and forty five

      At the of the foregoing was thus written to wit

Be it remembered that on this twentieth day of October 1845
before the Subscriber a justice of the peace for said City appears
Alexander Nisbit and John Philips and acknowledges the above
Instrument of writing to be our act and deed according to the true
intent and meaning thereof.   Acknowledged before

to B. T. B. Worthington of sundry negroes
dated the twenty seventh day of October
eighteen hundred and forty five
This Indenture made
this twenty seventh
day of October in the year
eighteen hundred and forty
five between N. Gassaway
Watkins of Anne Arundel County of the one part and Brice T. B.
Worthington of the City of Annapolis of the other part both
parties of the State of Maryland Whereas Mary A. Holliday
and Clement Weedon on the twenty second day of November
of the year eighteen hundred and forty four executed this single
bill by which they jointly and severally obliged themselves
their Executors administrators and assigns six months after
the day aforesaid to pay to the said Brice T. B. Worthington or
order the sum of eight hundred and twenty dollars and eighteen
cents for value received with legal interest upon the same from
