65 true intent and meaning thereof that the said personal property mortgaged by me the said Andrew E. Dill to secure the said Philip D. Sutton the payment of the money. In Witness whereof I the said Andrew E. Dill have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the nineteenth day of september 1845 Signed sealed and delivered Andrew E. Dill (seal) in the presence of Witness Lewis Sutton Michael Cerredy At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit On this 19.th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for the State and County aforesaid appeared Andrew E. Dill and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of Assembly in such a case as made and provided and the property therein conveyed to be the right and Estate of the within named Philip D. Sutton upon the condition therein contained As witness my hand and seal Lewis Sutton Sr Recorded the 24.th day of Sept 1845 Ex d d costs 86 cts paid
at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Editha Williams do hereby acknowledge and from every part and parcel thereof do hereby acquit exonerate and discharge the said John W Williams his Executors or administrators have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John W Williams his executors administrators and assigns all those negroes which were conveyed unto the said Editha Williams by Bill of sale from Edward C Williams bearing date the fifteenth day of April in the year eighteen hundred and forty four and recorded in Liber W. S. G. No 2 folio 324 one of the Record Books for Bills of sale for Anne Arundel County to wit Tom to serve for a term of years yet unexpired Stephen sometimes called Moses also to serve for an unexpired Term of years a Boy Alexander a slave for life and a Girl Ellen also a slave for life.
